Tarasks are interdimensional beings living in the other realm. They are gatekeepers in charge of retrieving fugitives and objects stolen from the realm. When they feel the energy coming from the Halo, they have the ability to teleport on Earth for a short period of time, usually less than a minute. Their skeleton is entirely made of divinium. According to the OCS legend, they are considered as higher order demons coming from hell.
History[]
During the first Crusade, Adriel appeared on the battlefield being followed by a Tarask. Due to its demonic appearance, the crusaders immediately began worshipping Adriel when he used the Halo to kill the Tarask, and perceived the Tarask as the enemy. According to OCS accounts from 1532 and 1749, Tarasks can only appear on earth in short bursts. Before a tarask tried to take the Halo from Ava, no tarask had been seen for a century.
Difference with wraiths[]
Apart from being supernatural beings, tarasks and wraiths may have nothing in common. Tarasks take corporeal form on Earth for a very short period of time, while wraith demons don't take corporeal form and can possess humans for a long period of time. Tarasks serve Reya, while wraith demons serve Adriel.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
A Tarask repeatedly appears throughout the first season, chasing Ava Silva to retrieve the Halo. The Warrior Sisters use divinium weapons to make him disappear. However, Sister Lilith is impaled on a tarask's claw and dragged with him in the other realm. After Ava is better trained to properly use the Halo, the tarasks do not appear anymore. When she phases through the wall of Adriel's tomb, she finds a skeleton of a Tarask, entirely made of divinium. Sister Beatrice assumes that the Tarasks skeleton is the original source of divinium and that the skeleton was put here to block access to the tomb.
Season 2[]
It is revealed in visions Ava has from the Crown of Thorns that there are several Tarasks in the other realm. Ava realizes that Tarasks are gatekeepers for Reya's realm. While Ava and Michael Salvius are in a church full of FBC worshipers, a Tarask arrives and is seemingly attacked by several wraith demons. During the final fight between Adriel and Ava, she uses the Halo to attract several Tarasks, who immediately kill Adriel. After that, they turn to Ava and Beatrice, ready to attack them. Reya commands the Tarasks to stop and makes them disappear with a flick of a hand. She then turns around, about to walk in to the portal, but not before turning around once again and give Ava a nod. Finally she steps into the portal, ultimately letting Ava keep the Halo.
